Cosmetic Injections
Cosmetic Injections are a non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment used to improve the appearance of fine or deep lines, shadows, facial sagging or drooping, overall facial structure and shape. These age optimisation treatments targeting one or often a number of different areas can restore and maintain a natural look. Cosmetic Injections can also be used to subtly enhance natural structural features or to beautify and define specific areas; for example lips or cheeks, jawline or treat a double chin. A series of these age optimisation treatments can restore balance between inner and outer confidence with no downtime.
WRINKLE RELAXERS
Facial lines and wrinkles become more pronounced as we age and are a very natural symptom of growing older. These lines and wrinkles can created a tired, stressed appearance, often not reflecting how we feel on the inside. The physiologic effects of ageing in conjunction with repeated facial expressions and environmental stress eventually create more visible or permanent facial lines and wrinkles. These lines and wrinkles can be improved with injections to relax the muscles underneath the skin which would otherwise fold upon their contraction or movement. Our signature whole face visual approach to clinical ageing ensures the procedure of administering these injections delivers safe, discrete and considered results. This promotes a youthful, natural appearance that is still you. Results can vary but generally with one ten-minute treatment there is a noticeable improvement in mild to severe wrinkles within days which can last between three and six months. Wrinkle Relaxers can be used alone or in conjunction with Dermal Fillers. This treatment has been recognised as safe and effective in millions of individuals across the world and there is generally no down time.
Occasionally only minor bruising or very transient redness can be seen. Doses are variable for individuals to achieve their desired result. There are certain contraindications that apply at specified times or at all times in certain individuals. Cosmetic Injections can be associated with side effects and complications and a thorough consultation with a medical professional is carried out prior to your procedure. The side effects are usually minimal and severe side effects are extremely rare.

FAT DISSOLVING
This treatment involves using a TGA approved substance which when injected under the surface of the skin into the fat layer will target the stubborn fat deposits under the chin. The treatment takes around sixty minutes and an anaesthetic is used prior to the procedure delivered by a trained medical professional. The needles are extremely fine. For optimal results we suggest 2-3 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart. This procedure often results in swelling under the chin which mainly subsides after a period of two weeks. The results can be permanent. The skin also tightens underneath the injected area and further tightening can be accomplished in conjunction with our combined RF, Genius or Infini treatments.

THREAD LIFT
Ageing is often associated with a change in the facial shape as a result of descendant fat pads in the face and ligaments becoming slack. This is what people notice on themselves as facial drooping or sagging. Thread lifting is a procedure using sutures inserted underneath the skin which attach to the surrounding tissues and when pulled in specified directions will lift the face. The threads over time dissolve in the skin and results can last up to two years. Threads when placed directly into the skin can also act like a collagen stimulator. This is a non-surgical face lifting approach performed by a qualified doctor. The procedure is carried out with local anaesthetic for comfort and is generally well tolerated.
There are certain contraindications for this procedure at specified or at all times. The procedure requires a medical assessment to be carried out beforehand and takes around 1-1.5 hours, depending on how many threads are used. There is some minor bruising, facial tenderness and slight swelling after the procedure which can last up to two weeks.
DERMAL FILLERS
During the ageing process we lose facial volume through fat loss and bony resorption. This can result in facial sagging, drooping, shadows, hollows and an overall change in our facial shape. Our skin also loses collagen and elastin resulting in changes in skin texture, reduced skin density or thinning and open pores.
Dermal Fillers are an injectable gel combined with local anaesthetic. These fillers when injected within or under the skin plump the area by attracting water to them which expands the gel. The resulting effect is skin smoothing, tightening, lifting or restoration of the natural facial shape.
Dermal fillers can also be used to subtly aesthetically enhance facial structure, for example lips, cheeks, chin or jawline. The gel is soft and feels smooth underneath the skin, it is flexible to allows normal and natural facial movement.
Dr Katina has many years experience using dermal fillers in her selected range in clinic. WIth her experience and adopted techniques she is able to promote and maintain a natural look.
While you may experience no side effects, dermal fillers can have complications and moderate to severe side effects albeit rare. In most circumstances these side effects are temporary and should resolve within a week. There are contraindications to these treatments which apply to certain individuals at specified times or at all times. A thorough medical consultation in clinic is carried out by a medical professional prior to injection of dermal filler. The results are visible immediately and can last from 6 months to up to 18 months in the body. The product is naturally metabolised by the body and the longevity is variable for each individual.

HYDRATING FILLERS
Skin quality is defined as smoothness, absence of fine lines, hydration and elasticity. Hydrating fillers can be used to rehydrate skin which appears dull and lined.
As we age hyaluronic acid molecules in the skin naturally diminish, causing fine lines, a reason why skin loses its smooth and reflective appearance. This treatment works accurately within the skin structure to boost its moisture and elasticity and increase density by directly replenishing its hydrating function.
Administered through superficial micro-injections spaced a few millimetres apart across the target area, this simple yet incredibly effective treatment normally takes around thirty minutes. Improvement will be seen after a single treatment but for sustained results a series of three sessions two weeks apart is recommended followed by maintenance treatments at six to twelve months.
While you may not experience side effects they can occur with this treatment. They usually are temporary and should resolve within a week. Side effects include injection site redness, pain , swelling, firmness, lumps and bumps or bruising.

IPL THERAPY
A lot of sun damage is from our childhood. It starts to become visible in our 30s and causes premature ageing. We may start to see increased dryness and fine lines, broken capillaries or pigmentation in the form of large patches or isolated spots. Pre-cancerous lesions appear often in fair skin types but not excluding other types. These look like flat, pink or red slightly scaly lesions with common areas being the upper forehead, above the eyebrows, temples and mid cheeks.
IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light and is a unique skin rejuvenation treatment that can be used to correct a variety of skin concerns and photo-damage. Working most specifically on skin tone, clarity and colour, it restores a youthful glow by erasing multiple signs of sun damage, including freckles, brown spots, mottled pigmentation, redness and small broken blood vessels as well as rosacea, active acne and scarring, fine lines and wrinkles. Suspicious or concerning pigmented lesions are referred to the physician on site prior to treatment.
Most ‘limelight’ treatments take less than one hour. Your face feels slightly warm and appears slightly red post treatment. If you have brown pigment, darkening of these pigment containing skin cells appears within a couple of hours then shed like normal skin cells within 10-14 days after which they are permanently reduced or removed. Results take up to four weeks for the full effect and best practice is three sessions separated by four to six weeks.

INFINI (Geraldton Clinic Only)
Infini (RF microneedling) is an advanced treatment system for skin rejuvenation. It is a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure designed for the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, thin or sagging skin, pigmentation and acne scarring, both pitted and hyperpigmented. Skin-needling or micro-needling is used to create thousands of micro-injuries to the skin. This induces the production of new collagen in the skin through the body's natural healing response. Radiofrequency (RF) compounds the response by adding heat through these needles to the deep dermis. Research has shown that heating the skin can cause collagen fibres to shrink and tighten immediately. This collagen tightening occurs as a result of the reparative phase of wound healing. Because this treatment delivers the energy from inside the skin via the inserted needles, the advantage is that all skin types can be treated, and the risk of pigment changes is significantly less than some laser treatments that treat from outside in.

There can be variation between individuals and number of treatments required to achieve the desired result. We usually recommend a minimum of three sessions, however results can be seen with one treatment. You can see continued improvement to the treated area between 3 months to up to two years post treatment.
The procedure is carried out under topical anaesthetic and is usually well tolerated. You would expect to feel a slight burning and heat sensation during and after the treatment for up to 24 hours. Some patients may experience a mild crusting post treatment and this can take up to 2 weeks for some patients to resolve.

IPL HAIR REMOVAL
This treatment offers permanent hair reduction, either reducing or often completely removing the need for waxing, plucking or shaving.
The Cutera Prowave hair removal system delivers specially tailored and safe wavelenghts of light (Non UVA or B) and heat to permanently destroy the hair folicle by heating the pigment within it. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation however no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required. Most areas require three to six treatments, however the number of treatments required for long term benefits depends on multiple factors; hair thickness, the area treated and your growth cycle.
Although patients experience few side effects, most common ones are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, usually lasting less than 24 hours. Prowave can treat a wide range of skin types and tones safely and effectively over all parts of the body where there is pigmented hair.

SKIN NEEDLING
Micro needling (percutaneous collagen induction, commonly known as skin needling) is a minimally invasive medical-grade procedure that uses fine needles to puncture the skin for a wide variety of benefits.
This advanced clinical treatment uses fine needles to penetrate the skins dermis, deliberately creates micro-injuries to the skin, prompting the skin to repair itself and thereby increase collagen production. This helps reduce wrinkles, remove pigmentation, tighten the skin, remodel scars, treat enlarged pores and improve the skins overall texture and tone. It is usually performed on the face but can be done on the neck, body and scalp. It can also improve the appearance of stretch marks.
Topical anaesthesia is applied to the skin for 20-30 minutes prior to treatment. Stainless steel micro-needles on a disposable tip of a pen device are injected into the skin at high speed. Topical serums are utilised and injected into the micro-channels during the procedure, containing hyaluronic acid for hydration peptides, growth factors and antioxidants.
The procedure takes around an hour in total. The face appears red from day 1-3 following the procedure. You can see visible results 2-4 weeks post treatment . Best results are seen with a series of three treatments spaced four weeks apart. Maintenance treatments can be performed throughout the year.

PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY
PDT is a revolutionary new way to treat mild to severe sun damaged, blemished, scaly, pigmented and aged skin using a combination of applied ‘5 ALA’ (Aminolevulnic Acid 20%) lotion and either LED Light Therapy or Intense Pulsed Light. This unique combination destroys abnormal skin cells to reveal new, fresh, healthy skin cells in their place. PDT provides exceptional cosmetic results in addition to preventative treatment of solar keatosis (pre-skin cancers) progressing to non melanoma skin cancer. The average treatment time is approximately 30 minutes plus incubation time of 2-3 hours. Your doctor may recommend more than one treatment, depending on your individual skin and level of damage. LIGHT CHEMICAL PEELS
Perfect for photo-damaged and sensitive skin, professional gel peels are designed to gradually improve the appearance and texture of your skin without the irritation or disruption of your lifestyle.
Light Chemical Peels intensively exfoliate to accelerate the cell renewal process, stimulate collagen synthesis and improve elastin fibres in the dermis revealing a more youthful and radiant complexion. This safe, non invasive procedure delivers results yet requires no down time.
There are certain contraindications to having this procedure including allergies to aspirin and use of retinoid products within the prior two weeks.
Complications during or after a light chemical peel are extremely rare. Those that could occur include burning sensation. Less severe complications include temporary hot spots or crusting which generally resolve within days. Results may be enhanced when used with microdermabrasion or IPL procedures.
As an adjunct to treatment peels should be administered preceding microdermabrasion or IPL. The entire procedure takes 30-40 minutes. A slight stinging sensation or burning sensation lasts three to five minutes. Slight redness and skin sensitivity including flaking can occur for a period of up to five days as it eliminates dead surface cells. Your skin will likely feel softer, tighter and smoother.
For optimal results apply in a series of 6 sessions or in conjunction with other procedures or treatments. Your skin care professional will evaluate your skin condition and choose the peel most appropriate for you.

MOLE SCANNING (Adelaide Only)

MICRODERMABRASION
Microdermabrasion is a popular and non-invasive treatment which uses a machine to deeply exfoliate the skin and improve skin cell turnover. As we age our skin’s natural turnover becomes sluggish, creating a dry and dull appearance. Microdermabrasion works by stimulating blood flow to the surface of the skin for increased circulation while removing dead skin cells and accelerating its rate of turnover. This provides our skin with a more even and reflective surface appearance or “glow”. The treatment can also improve acne, superficial scarring, open pores, fine lines and overall texture. There is usually very minimal down time and the treatment takes around 15 mins. For best results a series of 6-12 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart will ensure optimal results.
